Medium Density Fiberboard
Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product and one of the most versatile building materials available on the market today.
It’s attractive appearance, smooth feel and consistent surface makes it ideal for painted shelving and storage cabinets and offers the perfect surface for veneer application.
However, only use non-aerosol paint that will not soak into the wood. Do not use MDF in applications where moisture or humidity are present.
When working with and cutting MDF, work outside and wear a particle mask, as MDF produces a fine-powdered, airborne dust. If you’re looking for a natural wood appearance,
- Ideal for a wide array of projects from home decor to utility repairs
- Easy-to-paint, smooth surface makes it perfect for a huge variety of craft and DIY projects
- Convenient size means less waste
- Easy to handle, transport and store
- Manufactured from sustainably managed forests
- Product is not waterproof, so avoid getting panels wet
- Highest quality B/C grade (IWPA Standards)
- MDF should only be used outside in weather-protected areas
- For the cleanest cut, use an 80-tooth or higher table saw blade intended for cutting wood products
- For projects that don't require the strength or durability of 3/4 plywood or plywood 1/2, consider ¼ in plywood for the same great results
